The investors didn't like if the organization centers around social duties as opposed to benefit amplification; it can prompt decrease in various financial specialists (Bhattacharya, Korschun and Sen, 2009). The undertakings may improve their notoriety through SRM model, yet they need upper hand in the market which brings about diminished deals and benefits. In spite of the fact that, there are a few drawbacks, the advantages of SRM aid the security of people and society. It causes undertakings to satisfy their ethical obligations; along these lines, present day firms should execute a compelling SRM model. Kinds of SRM As indicated by Aguinis and Glavas (2012), there are a few sorts of advertising ideas which remember for the meaning of social obligations in promoting, for example, for social showcasing, personal satisfaction, socially mindful purchasing, cultural showcasing and ecological or green advertising. The inventive showcasing requires the organization to improve their items; the shopper arranged promoting concentres on the interest of clients. Showcasing is an essential action of an association and prominence of the web, and online life stages have expanded the promoting open doors for organizations. Numerous organizations abuse promoting to misdirect the general population into purchase or utilizing their items which can be hindering to their wellbeing. To actualize an effective socially capable plan of action, organizations are required to persistently screen and change their strategies according to the market necessities (Hammann, Habisch, and Pechlaner, 2009). In Sri Lanka, the organizations are exploiting developing web clients and executing different SRM models, for example, email promoting, Facebook showcasing, SMS promoting and different sorts of web commercials (Tsai, Chou and Hsu, 2009). Cinnamon Air, a Sri Lankan residential carrier, is a genuine case of successful SRM model; the organization morally publicize their administrations and utilizations Facebook and Email promoting model to introduce them particularly which propels clients to utilize their administrations and give them positive criticism (Cinnamon Air, 2017). Other genuine models are Dialog Axiata, Sampath Bank, and Mobitel which has executed Facebook promoting SRM model. Cause Related Marketing According to Ross, Stutts, and Patterson (2011), the reason related showcasing is a common joint effort between an organization and non-benefit association to advance the previous deals of items and last reason. The term was first presented by the American Express in 1983 to rise giving for the Statue of Liberty's reclamation. Each time a part utilizes a card, American express pays one penny as a gift (Demetriou, Papasolomou and Vrontis, 2010). The non-benefits association can essentially profit by the usage of cause-related advertising. The organization must be set up after legitimate assessment of the terms as it can represent a hazard for the two gatherings notoriety. For instance, an admirable motivation can't get the sufficient help of open in the event that it they consider it to be a vile corporate greed. There are a few genuine instances of compelling execution of cause-related advertising, for example, CauseGood and Selfish Giving. To discover cause-related advertising openings, the non-benefit partnerships ought to extend their exploration past the conventional strategy for corporate giving choice, for example, corporate basics or giving projects. The organizations should attempt to contact the promoting branch of very much presumed enterprises to make cooperation with them in cause-related showcasing. The enormous organizations may join forces with the littler or less realized foundations dependent on the admirable motivation. In any case, for the most part the organizations want to work together with huge non-benefit undertakings or establishments just on the grounds that it gives them more introduction in the market (Vanhamme et al., 2012). Social Marketing As per Lee and Kotler (2011), the social promoting essentially centers around social great, then again, the business advertising focus on money related objectives. In spite of the fact that the business showcasing is centered around raising income, it can likewise add to the accomplishment of a social reason. The social showcasing is a methodology which is utilized in the advancement of different exercises which are planned for changing or marinating the conduct of individuals

3 Interview Questions That You Should Answer Honestly

3 Interview Questions That You Should Answer Honestly We’ve all been there: we go into the meeting feeling sure, practically nail it, and afterward get lost by that one inquiry that plagues us for the remainder of the day (or week, or for eternity). Regardless of how well we’ve arranged our responses to the normal inquiries and done examination into questions that may come up at that specific meeting, there’s consistently that addresses we believe we didn’t answerâ perfectly. Actually this: there are a couple of inquiries that ought not accompany canned, pre-arranged answers. Here are three inquiries you’d be in an ideal situation replying spur of the moment, in a fair and bona fide way. Realizing when to go off the content can truly spare a meeting from feeling forced.â€Å"Tell me about a period you defeated an issue or challenge in the workplace†If you intend to talk about a test you defeated in your expert past,â it’s great to have some thought of what you’ll state if this co mes up as a subsequent inquiry. In any case, it’s best not to have it excessively unbendingly scripted. What your questioner needs to know here is the means by which well you handle weight and whether you get overwhelmed by apparently unthinkable errands. Offer a response with a touch of subtlety, which shows you’re not scared of complex circumstances and detail.â€Å"What is something you believe you ought to have done differently?†You ought to plan for this inquiry the same amount of as you’d get ready for the â€Å"something you’re extremely glad of† question. Regularly it can follow that question right away. Don’t be excessively polished. It tends to be extremely compelling to seem astounded by the inquiry, and afterward to give a genuine record of a slip-up you made that you took in a great deal from. Your questioner is simply ensuring you can be sufficiently unassuming to concede your flaws and productive enough to develop past them.â€Å"What do you like to do in your extra time?†The questioner will know whether you’re simply attempting to state what you think will satisfy them. So don’t tune in to that terrified voice in your mind that says, â€Å"But consider the possibility that the recruiting administrator doesn’t like what I like?† It doesn’t matter. In the event that they do they do, and on the off chance that they don’t, they’re shouldn't. The recruiting supervisor simply needs to realize that you’re an individual they wouldn’t be humiliated to go to party time with. So speak the truth about your interests not insane, obviously, yet be yourself. The primary concern is this: be set up to address these inquiries, yet don’t be too practiced. Take into consideration a little immediacy, let your answers be regular, and simply act naturally.

6 Bad Excuses for Committing Plagiarism

Plagiarism is a serious offense that can cause permanent damage to a student’s academic career. Few students realize the seriousness of this crime – and crime is exactly what plagiarism amounts to. It is an act of theft. Because many students fail to understand the potential consequences of committing plagiarism, they don’t necessarily take the time to understand what types of behavior constitute plagiarism. This gets too many students into trouble – and that trouble can be anything from embarrassment to heartbreak. In college, plagiarism is taken very seriously. Many colleges will expel students on the very first event. While students are given the opportunity to have their case or situation reviewed by a panel or a student court, they should understand that excuses just do not work. The most common excuse that school officials hear appears as number one on the list: 1. I didn’t know it was wrong.   Your first job as a student is to know what behavior is considered plagiarism. You should stay far away from these common types of plagiarism: Submitting the work of another. If you ever turn in a paper that was written by someone else, especially if you pay money for it, then you are guilty of plagiarism and you are risking your future. It is plagiarism to claim the work of another or even the ideas of another.  While most students in middle and high school don’t have to worry about stealing ideas when it comes to a paper or a science project, students in college do run the risk of plagiarism charges when they write a paper based on another person’s thesis. Submitting a paper you’ve written for another class. Yes, you can get into trouble if you use your own original work for two different assignments. There is a difference between submitting the same paper twice and building upon your own research and adding to an old paper. Check with your instructor or advisor if you have any questions or doubts about this. Copying too much text and using it as a block quote. Let’s face it. Sometimes stude nts try to pull the wool over their instructors’ eyes. Instructors are not dummies, and they see this one all the time. They don’t fall for it.  There is a limit to the amount of text you should put into a block quote. Rewording a source or several sources. Sometimes student will submit a research paper with correct citations, but the paper is really a reworded version of one source or several sources pieced together.   The paper you write should contain your own original ideas, theories, and conclusions.   You must draw conclusions from the evidence you find in other work. While â€Å"I didn’t know it was wrong† is the most common excuse, there are others that instructors hear often. Be warned that excuses don’t get you off the hook! 2. I didn’t mean to. Everyone knows that it is tedious work, putting in all those precise citations. One common problem that instructors see is the omission of a citation. If you use a quote from a source and you don’t indicate that it’s a quote and cite your source, you have committed a theft! Be very careful to proofread and make sure you’ve indicated every quote with quotation marks and cited the source. 3. I didn’t know how to do the assignment. Sometimes students receive unique assignments that are so different from previous tasks that they just don’t know how the completed task should look. It’s perfectly fine to look up examples when you are expected to do something new like write an annotated bibliography or create a poster presentation. But sometimes, students who procrastinate can wait too long to look up these examples, and they realize that they have waited too long to complete the work. When that happens, they may be tempted to borrow from those examples. The solution? Don’t procrastinate! That also leads to trouble. 4. I was just helping a friend. You know perfectly well that you’re guilty of plagiarism if you use work that wasn’t written by you. But did you realize that you are also guilty if you write a piece for another student to use? You are both guilty! It’s still plagiarism, on both sides of this coin. 5. It was my first time. Really? That might have worked when you were five, but it won’t work on instructors when it comes to stealing.   Many students are expelled after the first time committing plagiarism. 6. I was in a rush. Politicians and journalists who have quick deadlines for speeches and reports have tried this one, and it is unfortunate that such high-profile personalities have to be such awful role models. Again, this excuse for stealing the work of another is not going to get you anywhere. You are not likely to gain sympathy because you didn’t give yourself enough time to finish an assignment! Learn to use a color-coded calendar to you have plenty of warning time when an assignment is due.

Turkey Vultures Essay Example For Students

Turkey Vultures Essay Turkey VulturesVultures are large birds of prey closely related to hawks and eagles. They are divided into New World vultures and Old World vultures, both belongingto the order Falconiformes. The New World vultures, in the family Cathartidae, consist of seven species in five genera. Among the New World vultures includethe Cathartes aura, also known as the Turkey Vulture. Scientists say that turkey vultures are shy, inoffensive birds. Someresearchers have discovered that the bird is very helpful to the environment. Its habit of cleaning up decaying and diseased carcasses makes it a sanitaryengineer par excellence, while its keen sense of smell has been pressed intoservice to find wasteful and dangerous gas leaks. And the vultures uniqueknack for conserving energy has intrigued scientists for years. Although the turkey vulture has a large, turkeylike body and sporty redhead, it is not even distantly related to the turkey. Instead, turkey vultures-along with their cousins in the United States, the black vulture of the Southand East, and the nearly extinct California condor-belong to a group of raptorscalled New World vultures. Chromosome analysis shows that the New Worldvultures are actually more closely related to storks than to the vultures ofEurope, Asia, and Africa. Turkey vultures are remarkably successful birds. They range everywherefrom parts of Canada and much of the United States to South America. At home indeserts, prairies and woodlands, they have even settled close to people in anumber of urban and suburban areas. Observed in flight, the turkey vulture appears black with the undersideof its wings grayish or silvery, giving the birds a two-toned appearance. Theycharacteristically hold their wings in a slight V, or dihedral, thus aidingidentification. On rare occasions, they hold their wings flat and eagle-likewhich, if seen at a great distance, may cause the birds to resemble eagles. Inflight, the turkey vulture holds its naked head, crimson-red as adults andgrayish-black as immatures, downward in contrast to eagles, which hold theirheads forward. The tail of the turkey vulture extends far beyond the rear edge of itswings. They typically rock or tilt from side to side while gliding or soaringon updrafts or circling overhead. Their occasional wingbeats are powerful andlabored. Turkey vultures are large birds with wingspreads of about six feet. Their wings are long, moderatly wide, and have strongly slotted tips. Typically, the wings are held slightly above a horizontal plane when the bird is aloft. This forms a characteristic dihedral which is very useful in making correctfield identification. Although turkey vultures use thermals, they are moredependant upon updrafts when migrating along mountains. The birds use the aircurrents skillfully and seldom exert much energy by flapping their wings. Much of the credit for the birds success, scientists say, belongs toits efficient use of energy. Turkey vultures are marvels of energy conservation. It seems a turkey vultures whole life is spent trying to conserve every littlecalorie it gets. If theres some small way it can save burning its own body fatand tissue, it will. Like an energy-conscious homeowner, a vulture turns downits thermostat at night. During the night, a turkey vultures body temperaturedrops a few degrees. The result is a savings in the vultures energy bank. Towarm up again in the morning without burning much fuel, the prehistoric-lookingbird spreads its wings and soaks up all the sun it can. Another trick performed by the turkey vulture is a behavior calledurohidrosis. Like all birds, the turkey vulture has no sweat glands. To coolitself during hot spells, it frequently defecates on its own legs. The slurryof white uric acid in the feces contains mositure that cools by evaporating. The behavior, shared by other vultures and storks, is more efficient thatsweating since it requires no boost in metabolism. The turkey vultures most basic ploy for saving energy is simply stayingput. If the weather is bad for flying, they can and will sit at their roost fordays. Since their metabolism is low compared to many other birds, fasting seemsto bother them little, if at all. This ability to go without food comes inhandy for another reason. The animals food supply is extremely unpredictable. They dont know where their next meal is coming from. The birds are well-equipped to get that next meal though. Compared withthe heavier, chunkier black vultures, turkey vultures have light bodies and long, broad wings which provide excellent lift. They dont use or lose a lot ofenergy landing and taking off, so theyre able to exploit small food itemsefficiently. As a result, youll often see a turkey vulture at a road-killedmouse, something the black vulture wouldnt consider doing. Like an energy-conscious homeowner, a vulture turns downits thermostat at night.ful of foods, turkey vultures have evolved intoveritable detoxification plants. Not only can they eat food so rotten that itcould kill most other creatures, they benefit people and the environment bypreventing the spread of diseases. Among these is botulism, a deadly sicknesscaused by a bacterial poison that attacks nerve-muscle junctions and leads todeath by suffocation. Biologists have found that turkey vultures have bothbotulism-resistant nervous systems and heavy duty immune systems that ward offthe bacterial toxin. In one experiment, a scientist injected one turkey vulturewith a dose of botulinus toxin lethal enough to kill 300,000 guinea pigs. Thebird never showed a moments illness. But while turkey vultures are formidable foes of bacteria, they are shy, cautious and docile when confronted by virtually any creature larger than amicrobe. This shyness is often carried to an extreme. When the birds aretrapped and handled, they are totally docile. Being submissive is only one waya turkey vulture acts when stressed. When frightened, they tend to regurgitate. Whether the act is intentional or not, it provides the dual benefit oflightening the load for a quick getaway and repelling any would-be antagonistwith the stomach contents foul odor. The turkey vultures foul and sinister reputation, however, finallyseems to be changing. In fact, the infamous scavengers are actually findingthemselves appreciated by some people. Each year, for example, thousands ofpeople jam the town of Hinckley, Ohio, on one Sunday in March. The occasion iscalled Buzzard Day. This is the day that the vultures are scheduled to drift infrom their southern wintering grounds. People from all over the area gather towatch their beloved birds reappear.

Women in Combat Argumentative Essay Example For Students

Women in Combat Argumentative Essay In the 1970s, the services traditional attitude toward women was challenged; change was forced upon a reluctant establishment (Holm, 198). The decision to end the draft was the catalyst to such change. This decision allowed for womens participation in the armed forces in unprecedented numbers. The United States Armed Forces have more female numbers than any other nation in the world, both in actual numbers and in percentages (Holm, 1982). The drive for an all-volunteer force, along with an aggressive tide of feminism and congressional passage of the equal rights Amendments led to a gradual shift in the role and status of women in the military (Holm, 1982). In todays military, women were no longer confined to traditional roles in the medical and administrative fields. Almost all military job categories and military occupational specialties (MOS) have been opened to women. They now repair tanks, warplanes, and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). They serve on naval vessels tha t deploy to service ships and submarines of the operational fleet and on Coast Guard cutters operating off United States shores. They serve on missile crews, operate heavy equipment, and direct air traffic. They also provide essential support to combat troops in the field (Holm, 1982). It appears that women have been integrated into practically every aspect of the military; yet there are some jobs that remain closed to them, namely-direct combat specialties (Holm, 1982; Goldman, 1982). It is over these residual exclusions that controversy rages. We will write a custom essay on Women in Combat Argumentative specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Technically, women are barred by low or policy from what is defined in narrow terms as combat. Each of the United States Armed Services excludes females from active Combat. The nature and extent of the exclusion varies with each service. Yet, many argue that the distinction between combat and non-combat becomes blurred in the context of women warfare (Gilder, 1979; Holm, 1982, Goldman, 1982). In actually, many women are assigned to jabs that will expose them to enemy attack, and this has been openly acknowledged by the top Pentagon officials (Women in combat-closer than you think, 1980). The United States Army has also recognized that women would be deployed in combat zones as an inevitable consequence of their assignments. This was confirmed in the following statement made by then Army Chief of Staff, General Bernad W. Rogers: Some people believe that women soldiers will not be deployed in the event of hostilities: that they are only to be part-time soldiers here in peace, gone in w ar. Women are an essential part of the force; they will deploy with their units and they will serve in the skills in which they have been trained (Holm, 1982, p. 286). It appears that the combat exclusion policy does not realistically exclude women from combat, and it seems the militarys reliance on women is increasing. Schneider (1988) conducted interviews with women in traditionally male jobs, asking them what they felt their status would become if a war broke out. In general, they believed that they could not and would not be removed in combat situation (p. 162). The following was taken from two of these interviews. Ive already asked, said a first flight engineer on a C-5, what happens if Im sitting on alert in Europe somewhere and something really happens? Does that mean that they dont have a legal crew anymore because the engineer cant go? A Coast Guard female lieutenant had this to say: I was the trained CIC officer, responsible for the combat information center. Along with a team of radar men, CIC must plot all enemy and friendly forces and advise the bridge of such things as incoming missiles. Im the one thats used to working with these gu ys. That was the purpose of sending us through that simulated training, so that we could get used to working together as a team. What would they do? They couldnt just fly me off and stick somebody else in there (Schneider, 1988, p.162). .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .postImageUrl , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:hover , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:visited , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:active { border:0!important; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:active , .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447 .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6b5f33646ee595142bd493b75acc9447:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Oedipus Rex Analysis EssayIt appears that the United States military is in a position where women are so fully and flexibly involved in the organizational structure, that in a war, it would be very difficult to separate them out. Yet, there are those who feel those women are not physically and mentally capable of withstanding the effects of combat. There are many grounds on which this argument could be disputed; some are as follows. Women have contributed greatly in past wars. They have served in combat in many skills during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam (Holm, 1982). One study (Binkin Bath, 1977) found that many NATO and several WARSAW PACT countries employed women in combat roles during World War II. Russia was reported as using military women on the front lines. In Israel, where they are actually conscripted, women have also experienced armed combat. Binkin and Bech (1977) found that in the first phase of Israels war of Liberation, one out of every five soldiers was female and they shared equality in both offensive and defensive battle situations (p. 134). Holm (1982) found that some 7,500 military women served in S.E. Asia during the Viet Nam War. She maintains that these women proved .the modern American military woman is fully capable of functioning effectively in a military role in a combat environment, even under direct hostile fire (p. 207). The United States Army has even conducted its own tests to examine the performance of individual units with women in the field, under simulated combat conditions (Goldman, 1982). The first test, labeled MAX-WAC studied women in three-day field exercise, and assessed their effect on unit performance. The second test, REF-WAC, studied women in thirty-day sustained combat related exercises during the NATO annual REFORGER exercises in Europe. The tests proved that women did not adversely impact unit performance. According to Goldman (1982), these tests provided a great deal of evidence that military women can perform on a par with their male peers; and in terms of their psychological that women are not inferior to men. In general, military women feel the argument that they are not fit for combat physically is irrelevant, as combat is no longer characterized by physical activity. The technological and industrial advances of the twentieth century have caused extensive changes in the nature of warfare (Goldman, Holm, 1982; Gilder, 1979). Due to this changing nature of warfare and military technology, .combat will no longer depend on bayonets and physical force rather on lasers, microprocessors and other sophisticated devices that gender obsolete the conventional images of battle (Gilder, 1979, p. 29). Clearly advanced technology requires a more highly educated workforce, and it has been maintained that military women do fit in such category. According to a back ground study on women in the military done by Commander Richard Hunter, one of the Pentagons leading experts on personnel matters, military women are better educated than military men and score higher on aptitude tests. He found that more than 90% of women recruits have high school diplomas, compared with only 60% of men, and women aptitude scores are approximately 20% higher than the men (Gilder, 1979). Women have clearly demonstrated their capabilities and their potential for future contributions to the military. Their most recent victory was achieved in the Persian Gulf War. There, women helicopter pilots participated in an air assault for first time. They were involved in airlifting the 101st Airborne into Iraq, in what has been called the largest helicopter action in military history (GI Jill deserves a shot at combat, 1991, p. 36). In general many feel that the experience of the Persian Gulf War has called for a new look at the ban on women in combat roles. Indeed, very recently the House Armed Services Committee took the first step toward abolishing the combat inclusion rule. They approved legislation authorizing the Pentagon to assign female pilots to fly fighter and bomber combat missions (GI Jill, 1991). Clearly, this will accelerate the trend already established toward eliminating womens combat exclusions. .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .postImageUrl , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:hover , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:visited , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:active { border:0!important; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:active , .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5 .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u44127bced72cb3f88c61d7c7386a6bc5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Bloomingdales international customer service EssayAs public opinion is a force in shaping policy, the attitudes of the American public must also be considered. A national survey of 560 Americans aged eighteen to twenty-four conducted by the Gallup organization asked the following question concerning women in combat: If women are drafted, should they be required to take combat roles as men are, should they be given combat roles only if they volunteer for them, or should they not be eligible for them? (Goldman, 1982, p.284). The responses were as follows:Male FemaleGiven Combat Roles As Men 12% 9%Only if Volunteer 61% 74%Not Eligible 26% 16%Clearly, the majority of the surve y population, men and women alike favored the inclusion of women in combat roles on a voluntary basis. A data analysis taken from a General Social Survey done in 1988 reveals similar liberal attitudes of general population regarding the role of women. When asked to respond to the statement, Women should take care of home, not country, it was shown that the majority, including both male and females respondents, disagreed with the statement. Overall, more women disagreed than men, but this could be explained by the fact that there were more women in survey population than men. Yet overall, there were also more women who agreed than there was men; strikingly the percentages show that men are more likely to disagree with the statement than women are. The same results were seen when the question Should women work was asked. Clearly, it has been demonstrated that women are a valuable resource to the military. Women are thoroughly integrated into the armed forces, and they are now so dependent on women that it would be virtually impossible to go into combat without them. In large part, women have already proved themselves. One needs only look at their role in past wars. Regardless of the combat exclusion rule, women have served in combat roles throughout out history and it is inevitable that they will need for future combat roles. War has become much more diverse in the skills it demands. Today, combat is as much a matter of technical expertise, as physical strength. This increase in skill requirements further signifies the militarys need for all dependence on women; they are currently serving in highly technical roles. Along with the changing role of women in the military, American attitudes a nature and roles of women in our society are also changing. Polls and statistics have shown that there is a clear tendency toward liberalization in terms of womens roles. Indeed, the majority of American believes women should be allowed into combat roles if they are willing. In general, the use of women in essentially combat environments has been considered successfully, and will certainly have implications for their future roles. It may take some time for liberal policies to be implemented but the preliminary groundwork has been laid. In light of the Persian Gulf War, the first significant steps have already been taken toward allowing military women to serve in combat roles. BibliographyBach, S., Binkin, M. (1977). Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Essay Example

Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Essay Example Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Paper Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Paper Case Study 3: Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Name: Course: Date: Case Study 3: Economies and Diseconomies of Scale Question 1 Considering McDonalds size, economies of scale can come from discounts as well as its ability to produce more at a reduced price out of its equipments. Therefore, with a uniform menu, it means that McDonald will be buying the ingredients in large amounts, hence at a cheaper price. Additionally, a uniform menu means that McDonalds will be focusing on the size of output for few products, making production cheaper. Their big kitchens allow for larger equipments and specialized labor, which at higher output would produce at a lower cost per unit than a smaller kitchen without many specialized equipments would (McEachern 2011). Expanding into other countries makes menu planning due to different laws and cultures (McEachern 2011). For instance, it becomes difficult to plan for a menu in India where beef is illegal because cows are worshiped. Thus, the company would have to look for an alternative to beef burgers. In this case, planning the menu is made harder by the cultural beliefs. This makes economies of scale harder to achieve. Question 2 Movie theaters not only show movies, they also sell movies at the concession stand. Therefore, the theater has to have three people, one selling the movies at the concession, another one selling tickets at the entrance while the other one operates the projector. However, if another screen is added to the theater, the same employee can operate without needing an additional workforce (McEachern 2011). Therefore, it allows economies of scale to have multiple screens in a theater, which makes the workers more productive. Additionally, having multi screens will allow two movies to be viewed at the same time, ensuring to sell the greatest number of tickets within a short span of time, as opposed to showing each at one time. On the other hand, the benefits of locating multiscreen theaters at shopping malls it the reduced cost that comes with customers using the same rest rooms, while the construction of another screen may be noticeable. At a shopping mall, the theater can have advertisements that are more noticeable while its costs can be spread over several films, as opposed to one film. This creates economies of scale due to locating several screens in one location (McEachern 2011). References McEachern, W.A. (2011). Economics: A Contemporary Introduction. It plays an important role within the functioning of an organization. The incorporation of leadership theories or models helps in reducing various organi zational issues (Howell and Costley, 2001; Johnson, 2000). In this twentieth century, it has been evident that leadership characteristics have high importance in the efficient functioning in an organization (Song, Wang, and Wei, 2007). For eliminating the organizational issues and bringing a change within the organization, it is essential that the managers incorporate various leadership characteristics in their functioning (Yukl, 2009; Rees and French, 2010). There are mainly two types of leadership adapted by the leaders within the organizations. One is transactional leadership and the other is the transformational leadership. In transactional leadership, the leaders first set the objectives and goals for all the subordinates and then plans for implementation of different rewarding and punishment techniques in order to encourage them in conducting their operational activities according to the organizational objectives and goals. In transformational leadership, the transformational leaders first identify the required change and then set one vision thereby bringing the change process Transformational Leadership and Domestic Leadership- The transformational leaders believe in imaginative leadership for influencing the subordinates. They believe in strengthening the bonding with the followers and thereby building compassionate relationship with them. The domestic leaders follow transformational leadership for motivating the followers and encouraging them in making better performance. It becomes easy for the domestic leaders to develop compassionate relationship with the subordinates as there is no existence of cultural diversification. Thus form of leadership does not rely on the monetary rewarding techniques such as incentives, bonuses etc. Transactional leadership and International Leadership - The transactional leaders make detailed planning of whatever us going to be executed. These leaders prefer efficient organizations with high quality employees. These lea ders motivate their employees by means of practical methods rather than inspiration. It is so because only inspiration does not work out to be effective for the employees at certain point of time. In such a situation, it is essential to satisfy them by means of monetary rewards such as incentives or bonuses. The international leaders follow this form of leadership as it becomes easy for them to influence the subordinates by providing monetary rewards. Satisfying their demands would

State Versus Federal Power to Regulate Immigration Essay Example for Free

State Versus Federal Power to Regulate Immigration Essay According to the U. S. Census Bureau, the foreign-born population in the United States tripled in the past four decades and currently totals about 37 million, or nearly 12 percent of the total population. What authority do states have with respect to immigration matters? For decades, the power to regulate immigration has been considered a federal power. However, in recent years Congress added a new provision that allows local law enforcement to directly enforce immigration regulations through the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This provision is the Immigration and Nationality Act, and it is our basic federal immigration law. Causing many debates amongst community members, immigration has created a sense of an overwhelming presence of new lifestyles, cultures and ethnicity groups throughout America. The large number of new immigrants to this country creates a lifestyle that does not fit well with the once dominant group. In many cases, residents seem to be lobbying for stricter laws and enforcement. Alabama and Arizona’s immigration laws provide the framework for examining state power. With the Supreme Court ruling for over a century that federal government has the ultimate power of ruling immigration, they have ruled that any state or local law that attempts to regulate immigration is in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the U. S.  Constitution and is preempted by federal law. (Guizar, 2007) I have found that those powers are based on the Commerce Clause, Naturalization Clause, Migration and Importation Clause and the War Power Clause of Article I of the US Constitution. Sejal Zota, the author of â€Å"Do State and Local Immigration Laws Violate Federal Law? † , states that there is no general answer for this question, for the analysis varies across different areas of regulation. Her article provides a general framework to determine whether state and local laws relating to public benefits, housing, and employment may be preempted by federal law. Also, she touches on the topic of civil rights laws that may be violated by laws establishing English as the official language of our country and free speech. With a hope for future cases concerning regulation of immigrant housing and employment, we will not truly know the answer to the largely questioned thought, and hopefully what is to come to the future will bring clearer direction.

I have chosen to investigate the question Which of the qualities shown by an entrepreneur has most contributed to the success of their business? An entrepreneur Is a person who sets up a business, taking on financial risks In the hope of profit. Entrepreneurs need a lot of qualities In order to succeed In a business. An entrepreneur needs to be determined, persuasive, he also needs to use his Annihilative, be a good leader, a good decision maker and a good risk taker. I chose to use ‘manmade newsagents' as the business I wanted to investigate. Manmade Newsagents is a successful corner shop in Compton, Plymouth. They make money through a variety of ways such as selling food and drink, but the main way they make money Is by selling newspapers. They hire 30 paper boys at a time, who Individually deliver an average of 45 papers every morning. The owner of this shop is Graham Lam, a willing worker who is always happy to lend a helping hand and to make quick decisions, the workers at the shop say he is always happy and keeps the mood upbeat by making cups of tea often for the workers and allowing workers to have free food from the shop on certain occasions such as birthdays. The different entrepreneurial skills a business owner such as Graham needs are as listed: Determination – http://tolerance. Reference. Com/browse/determination Leadership – http://hob. Org/2004/01/watchmakers-leader/AR/1 Risk Taker An individual or business that tends to behave in a way that can potentially cause physical harm or financial loss, but might also present an opportunity for a rewarding outcome. Most business types that thrive on innovation will encourage a risk taker mentality among management to help support the creative process in other staff members.Source: http://www. Objectifications. Com/definition/risk-taker. HTML) Graham Lam used great leadership skills in order to succeed in his business. He did this by motivating staff on a regular basis, often offering a free compliment to those workers who he felt had impressed him over the course of the week, this seemed to work so he carried on doing It. The commitment and enthusiasm of a business leader shapes the common goals of the organization which provides inspiration and motivation for people to perform at a high level. When I asked his kills; 87% said yes and the other 13% said it didn't help them at all. To succeed with a business you must be a good leader, this keeps the people working for you organized and in order. A good leader is one Who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way Noon C. Maxwell). In a competitive business environment, effective leadership is an essential requirement in order to achieve organizational goals. To do this, leaders must be able to provide inspiration, motivation and clear direction to their team.

The Advantages Of Database Management Systems - 1577 Words

b) Critically evaluate the advantages of database management systems Advantages of DBMS Data independence: - the separation of data structure of database from the application program that uses the data is called data independence in database management system; you can easily change the structure of database without modifying the application program. For example you can modify the size and data type of a data items ( fields of a database table).data independence is usually consider from two points of view, logical and physical. Data integrity: - in DB MS data in database is stored in tables. A single database contains multiple tables and relationships can be created between tables. This make easy to retrieve and update data. Data†¦show more content†¦A form provides very easy way (user friendly) to enter data into database, edit data and display data from database. The non- technical users can also perform various operations on database through forms without going into technical details of a database. Backup and recovery procedures: - in a computer file- based system, the user creates the backup of data regularly to protect the valuable data from damaging due to failures to the computer system and application program. It is a time consuming method, if volume of data is large. Most of the DBMS provide the backup and recovery sub-systems that automatically create the backup of data and restore data if required for instance, if the computer system fails in the middle or in the end of an update operation of the program, the recovery sub-system is responsible for making sure that the database is restored to the state it was in before the program started executing. Improved decision making: - better managed data and improved data access make it possible to generated better- quality information, on which better decisions are based. The quality of the information generated depends on the quality of the underlying data. Data quality is a comprehensive approach to promoting the accuracy, validity and timeliness of the data. While the DBMS does not guarantee date quality, it provides a framework to facilitate data quality initiatives. [1.2] TASK 3 –
